How you can help YYC Growers grow the local food movement in Calgary?
YYC Growers is an alliance of urban and rural farmers in and around the Calgary area. Our farmer-led society was created in 2013 to provide Calgary’s urban farmers with a way to pool our efforts and resources. We help each of our farmer members sell their produce to customers in an easier, more affordable way.
The nearly 20 full and part-time farmers that make up the YYC Growers collective believe that every Calgarian should have the access to fresh, local and affordable food. The more we empower and support our rural and urban farmers, the faster YYC Growers’ vision of sustainable food on ever Calgary plate can be a reality.
How you can help!
We’re now providing over 500 harvest boxes to local families weekly, plus serving many amazing restaurants and local businesses like Sunnyside Natural Market! We’re ready to grow. The largest, most daunting barrier is our current cooler. It’s just not big enough to hold the larger amounts of produce coming in as more farmers join.
To raise the $25,000 needed for this new cooler, we’re running a crowdfunding campaign on a social enterprise platform called Chuffed.org. You can visit our campaign here.
You can donate as little as $5, or choose a perk from one of our incredible business supporters! Our perks include amazing items from Market Collective, Last Best Brew, Midtown Kitchen & Bar, The Nash, Notable, Forage Foods, Country Thyme Farm, The Bowden SunMaze, Sunnyside Natural Market, and Happiness by the Acre.
We want to grow the Local Food Movement in Calgary. Our vision is sustainable food on every Calgary plate. Please stand with us by donating today, and help us prove that Calgary is a great place to eat and grow local.
